Exploring the marvelous city of Melbourne

The city of Melbourne is one of the largest and the most densely populated cities of Australia. It forms a part of the State of Victoria and is located towards the lower end of the River Yarra. Since its establishment in the year 1835, Melbourne has been amongst the wealthiest regions of the country. Again, it is considered one of the best places in Australia as far as the settlement goes. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the population of Melbourne is humungous.

Anybody, who ever visited Australia, is sure to have been to Melbourne at least once. The tourism in this area has been growing steadily and a lot of people from different parts of the world have been migrating to Melbourne because of the quality of life it offers. The architecture and gardens of the city manage to woo most of the tourists that come here.

The city of Melbourne is fat geographically, which is responsible for the moderate climate here. However, the weather in Melbourne is constantly undergoing changes. The winters in Melbourne are way colder than they are in any other part of Australia. Snowfalls, fogs and frosts are a very common occurrence during winters in Melbourne. The springs here are pleasant, whereas the summers can get very hot. Again, the city receives very less rainfall.

While traveling in Melbourne, you are sure to experience the rich culture of the city. The region still manages to have traces of its Victorian origin which are very fascinating. It is this blend of culture, arts, architecture, industry, sports and commerce that attracts a lot of tourists to Melbourne. Over the years, the city has shown rapid growth in terms of industry and property.

Tourists visiting Melbourne must visit the places like Melbourne Museum, the Citylink toll way, the Federation Square, the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre and the Crown Casino to name a few. The Australian Grand Prix is also a very sought after event that brings a lot of tourists to this city. There are also breathtaking beaches along the Port Phillip Bay, which are the ideal places to soak in the sun.

If you are a sports lover, then Melbourne is definitely the tourist destination for you. The city has an amazing sports background and has also hosted the 1956 Olympics as well as the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The National Sports Museum of Australia is situated in Melbourne. With cricket and football being the two most played sports in Australia, the Melbourne Cricket ground is the largest cricket ground in the world.

Once you do make a trip to this wonderful city, Melbourne, it is very difficult to go back unimpressed.
