The Model of Fire & Water
The 8th Episode which is the one published just before this Episode, explains the doctrine of the trinity and how it is very significant in God's Love exhibited and manifested to us. How God manifested Himself in three forms, having different responsibilities at different times just to ensure Man is redeemed and reconnected to God. Models such as the Model of Fire and Water were illustrated just to ensure a good level of assimilation of the idea of how it is practically possible for the trinity to function as defined. If we understand the trinity, then we will understand the situation of Blasphemy in this Episode.
With the understanding of the God Head, getting to know what Blasphemy is will be easily understood. What is Blasphemy? According to Wikipedia, Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for a religious deity or the irreverence towards religious or holy persons or things. In order words, Blasphemy is acknowledging the identity and function of God and yet disregard it with great contempt in the process even insulting Him (God).
In Christianity, Blasphemy is as specific as committing it against the three personalities or entities of God and for one to be able to do it, it indicates the person's knowledge and acknowledgement of the functionality of God. We have the God Head as -God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit, is it possible to blaspheme against any of them? Let's find out!
The following verses will tell us how possible it is to blaspheme against God the Father:
Revelation 13:5-6:"The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven."
Exodus 22:28:"Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people."
Leviticus 24:16: "anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death."
So, it is actually possible to Blaspheme against God the father. What then is the repercussion for committing this crime. Leviticus 24:16 has given us an idea. nevertheless, the shedding of the Blood of Jesus Christ has atoned for all kinds of sins including blaspheming God. So, if one blasphemes against God and truly repents, Jesus Christ is there to intercede for him and definitely, God will forgive him. What about blaspheming Jesus Christ?
Acts 26:11: "Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. In my obsession against them, I even went to foreign cities to persecute them." This was Paul's testimony when He was still persecuting the Christians, then He was Saul. The Bible recorded in this translation that he forced them to blaspheme against God. Based on our definition, one blasphemes against God under his own will and consent. Therefore, this verse illustrates the gravity of Saul's own blasphemy against Jesus Christ then. He did not only detest the Christians (who mimic Christ in their lifestyles), he also forced them to insult Christ. What later happened to him?
Acts 9:1-6: "Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Despite all the persecution and blasphemy Saul committed against Jesus Christ, He was arrested and forgiven. Therefore, blasphemy against Jesus Christ is also forgivable. Besides, as someone who intercedes to the father on our behalf, he definitely should have the quality to forgive any kind of sin. If He can die for our sins which is the highest level of love and act one can show to His loved ones, He will be able to forgive a contemptuous and deliberate insult rendered against Him.
Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit
Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit
This particular one is a special case. The Holy spirit is meek, very calm, very humble, tender and extremely soft. He is said to be our comforter and guide and for Him as a person to guide us (Humans with the sinful Nature), He needs these qualities to be able to carry us through despite our regular flaws. Before we continue, let's take this illustration.
Susan and Dorcas are roommates. Susan is extremely kind, soft, meek, gentle and peaceful even to a fault. She can do anything, irrespective of how stupid, weird or degrading it is just to avoid trouble and let peace reign. Dorcas on the other hand is mean, rude and a troublesome girl. Discovering who Susan is, Dorcas even becomes worse, never relenting in her troubles, always taking advantage of Susan, constantly cheating and bullying her and all these acts, she enjoys. After bearing it for 3 months, Susan decides to leave the room to another. The question is, do you think Susan can ever be roommates with Dorcas again? Even if she forgives Dorcas, she will do everything she can to avoid having anything whatsoever to do with Dorcas and even if Dorcas begs to the point of death, Susan may never accept. This is exactly how the Holy spirit is. He has the exact personalities as Susan and can easily get hurts, now imagine a person who acknowledges and knows the Holy spirit and His functions and yet treat Him with great contempt in the process rejecting all His abilities even with insults, what would happen? Let's consider these Bible verses?
Mark 3:28-30: "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin.”He said this because they were saying, “He has an evil spirit.”Jesus Christ even says it all here. All forms of blasphemy can be forgiven, except that of the Holy spirit and we can even see the definition of blasphemy coming to play here as the reason Jesus said it was because they claim He has an evil spirit in Him. Jesus having an evil spirit? This is definitely blasphemy! The book of Matthew records the same account but in a clearer form;
Matthew 12:31-32:"And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."
If blasphemy against the Holy spirit is an eternal sin and cannot be forgiven, does that mean the person is an automatic candidate of Hell?
What happens next?
Are you doomed for Hell if you blaspheme Against the Spirit?
Consequence of Blasphemy Against The Spirit
Let's consider the following Bible verses
John 14:6: "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one ... "I am the
Way," replied Jesus, "and the Truth and the Life. No one"
John 5:24: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. .."
John 6:47:"I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. ... I can
guarantee this truth: Every believer has eternal life. ..."
Romans 10:9-10:"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
From the above Bible passages, we can observe that the only way to Heaven is Jesus Christ. And He said he has guaranteed this truth of eternal life to whoever believes. And we do this by confessing with our lips and believing with our hearts, these two steps make up the only way to God. We are only condemned if we do not believe. So what will happen to someone who blasphemes against the Holy spirit?
The spirit will never dwell in that person. Even if the person finally begs for forgiveness, The Father will forgive Him through the atonement of Jesus Christ, but the spirit can never dwell in Him because He (the spirit) has been hurt with the blasphemy. And what comes with the spirit is guidance of doing God's will, living in accordance to God's will, the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5 and even having spiritual Gifts. All these will be missing in the person's Life. Such an individual needs an extra-ordinary and non-existent level of God's grace to live up to His standards.
Practically speaking in our contemporary christian world of today, we find some certain Old denominations not taking the functions of the spirit seriously. It is not as if they disbelieve Him, but when He manifests, they react in sarcasm or skepticism. These old-time denominations somehow pass this attitude to their members and then it spreads across its entire branches, then one discovers, members of such denominations hardly exhibit the gifts of the Spirit. Have you, as a Christian taken your time to observe a particular denomination of which you hardly see its members speak in tongues or prophesy, or exhibit a magnitude of faith which overwhelms people around? These are little ways we push the Spirit aside and not allow Him to function in our lives. Now imagine when He is blasphemed. It will take the crime doer the special grace of God to survive the christian race and even get to Heaven because the spirit will forever not dwell with him (this is the unforgiven consequence of blasphemy against the Spirit).
Finally, blasphemy is so grievous and for this reason, whenever I embark on constructive discussions with my Atheistic friends, I always discourage them never to try it (even though most do not fully grasp the beauty of christianity). It is one situation to be a non-believer and it is a totally different situation to be an anti-believer or anti-christian. I always tell the non-believers never to try blaspheming even if they do not believe. Blasphemy against the Holy spirit is a spiritual crime in a grave form and should be discouraged, irrespective of belief.

Biblical Love Psychology is the product of the understanding of the word of God from the Bible and as well the practical application of its Psychology; hence it is easily applicable and understandable irrespective of your belief. Lots of emphasis hits on Love itself, breaking it down into its stages, forms and levels and trying to differentiate these various stages of Love as distinct units. Take for instance, Love can be viewed in two categories, the horizontal (Man to man) and the vertical (God to man) and we will understand that The horizontal (Man to Man) exists with an initial step: THE ATTRACTION! But the vertical has no attraction in its initial phase because God loved us while we were yet sinners, doomed to die. This attraction could be blood (blood relations), romance (eros) or compatibility in likeness (Phileo-friendship).
This Book has explained explicitly the significance of the attraction, independent of Love (despite going hand in hand). It did not stop there, it is vivid in elaborating Love itself which is a deeper level and a soul to soul connect which is in by no means same as the initial step (the attraction). Despite all these wonderful revelations about Love, why do we have failed relationships today? Why are marriages not lasting up to 30 years as it used to be? Why do parents disown their children? Why are relationships so shallow, insignificant and treated like high-school courses where they come and go? A typical or an average young lady in her mid-20s should have experienced a minimum of 7 failed relationships in her life, is this supposed to be so? What about Love application to other phenomena such as material things, Money, Animals, what can we say about this? Despite the vertical kind of Love (God to man) being the AGAPE Love, does that mean man cannot exhibit this Agape? When a person adopts a child, this has definitely by-passed any form of attraction, because despite not being their blood (the attraction), the person adopts and loves this child, can we consider this Agape?
All these questions will be thoroughly answered and as well some doctrinal controversies such as: the doctrine of Hell (is it necessary since God loved us without any form of attraction?), the doctrine of the trinity, and the justification of disowning a child from the fact there is Hell, despite (God) showing us such immense love and many more issues.
So, as much as this basic psychological issue of Love is coming from the foundation of the Bible, it is applicable to everyone. I may not believe in Buddhism, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying any Buddhist Movie and even learn from it. There are lots of principles we can apply from this book into our love-relationships irrespective of our beliefs, so try to read it.
On a final note, we should be cautioned that this Book is not a relationship manual. This is far from it. This book is about Love and solely about Love, of which if we understand its basic principles can be applied to any form of relationships. Psychological tools like the Love graph, the perfect square formula are used to explicitly elaborate Love Psychology. Also, science is brought into the picture for us, to a large extent use critical thinking for the justification of the existence of God. If somewhere in our subconscious we believe in His existence, then we will appreciate the Agape Love better.
