Extra Long Twin Bedding

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Some people go their whole life without ever knowing about the existence of extra long twin bedding. They have in their minds the standard bed sizes of twin, full, queen, and king, and never suspect there could be the anamoly that is the extra long twin bed. It's actually a quite unexciting addition to the well-known bed sizes, being exactly the same as a normal twin sized bed with the exception that it is all of 5 inches longer. No wonder people don't know about it. But come the time to go off to college, this devil of a bed enters the consciousness as people learn they must buy *gasp* EXTRA LONG twin bedding for their dorm beds, or the dorm bed of their son or daughter. This prompts a visit to the bedding store, where it is discovered that the extra long size either can't be found, or only comes in rather unappealing designs.

What to do in this situation? You can't have a sheet that's 5 inches too short- that won't do! Why do colleges have such long beds, anyway? It's so nobody will be left out- the tall will be able to sleep just as comfortably (a word open to interpretation when it comes to dorm beds) as their classmates. But what do you do when you can't find the right sized bedding in your local home store?

The answer is, you go online. Perhaps as little as 10 years ago, people would have been stuck buying whatever the store had in stock. But now, most of the people reading this can simply hop online and order whatever they want. This is true of almost everything nowadays, and is happily true of bedding, as well. So whether you're looking for an extra long twin bedding set or just the sheet, since that's all you really need if you already have the rest of the bedding you need, you can get it online.

How much can you expect to pay? For a sheet by itself, as low as $10 is not unheard of. A package that includes everything, and I mean everything, will cost more- up to $100 and higher, depending on the set you want. So go online and take a look, I'll be surprised if you don't find something that works.

Two tips- one is to compare prices, which is easy to do online. You could very well find a bargain, either in the form of lower prices or free shipping or a combination of the two. Another is to help keep the bed neat by getting fitted sheets that are wrinkle resistant. This will really keep things a little less chaotic in the dorm room.
