Facebook Addiction - Are You Involved?

By | Apr 11, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 1

If you have a positive answer to the title, let's hope you will have a speedy recovery.  If you answered in the negative, its fine; but the first sign of an addiction is denial.  There are methods and ways to find out if you are really facing a problem with such a situation.  Given below are the top ten signs to confirm if you suffer from Facebook Addicition.

1)      Facebook is the first website you check every morning.  (Please note:  for many who possess a mobile phone with Internet access, if you logon to the website as soon as you wake up, you will require medial advice immediately).

2)      Your profile contains more than 500 friends even though you don't have contact with most of them.

3)      Mafia Wars? Farmville?  If you consider yourself an expert with these social media games and the apps is the only interaction you have with friends. (Do your wall messages to friends look like this, "Tabitha found a lonely Black Sheep on their farm. Oh no!")

4)       You seem to love the website so much that you phone accompanies you even to the bathroom.  It might be an idea for good time management; but it also does confirm facebook addiction.

5)      You don’t print photos and make albums anymore.  The reason is because all your pictures are now uploaded on Facebook.

6)      Does your profile at any stage contain status messages which state what you have cooked for dinner, or what shows you have watched on television or places to where you have been recently?

7)      Have you ever shared a particular news article or YouTube video so that it will increase your chances of scoring some points or getting a friendship bracelet from your cool friends?

8)      You have downloaded FourSquare on your profile to check-in at trendy places in the city.  This will show your friends that you are not only trendy but also super smart and super tech-savvy.

9)      You have commented on someone else's wall.  You may have liked the status of someone whom you don't know very well, which is a Facebook equivalent of the "hello" in the real-world.

10)   Finally, your relationship status on Facebook will be made official by changing it from 'Single' to 'In a Relationship' or vice versa, or even 'It's Complicated'.  This is just to attract attention and make it quite different to the normal statuses.

The addiction to Facebook comes in different levels of severity.  If you have 3 symptoms then your addiction is light; it's moderate if you have 4-7; you will need medical attention if you have 7 or more symptoms. Your addiction is severe.  Remember your family cares for you whether they are on Facebook or not.
