You can use a tennis ball hopper to collect tennis balls that are lying around on the court. This is very useful when you have dozens of balls to collect from a practice. Being able to more easily collect the balls may allow you to use fewer balls in a practice session. You should be able to find a tennis ball hopper at any tennis shop, or some sport stores.

A tennis ball hopper will typically use a metal wire basket to store the balls as it picks them up. There is a top that can latch to prevent any balls from falling out, and opened so that you can remove the balls from the basket. The handles on the tennis ball hopper are typically half the height of a person. These handles will also help the basket to stand up at an easy to reach height when you are removing the balls.

The biggest benefit to using a tennis ball hopper is not having to bend over when retrieving the balls. All you have to do to use the hopper is to pick it up by the handle. The spaces between the wires in the basket are just wide enough for the balls to fit through the space with a small amount of pressure. In essence, all you have to do to collect the balls is to lightly press the basket down over a tennis ball.

From here the balls can be stored until you are ready to use them again. Because the hopper can stand up at a convenient level, it is a great tool for someone who needs access to several balls a minute. It is also great for coaches who want to be able to focus on their students, instead of where all of the balls are at any given moment.
