Farming simulator is a game that North America hasn't quite completely figured out yet. However, over in Europe this game is like candy to a baby. Farming simulator was one of the top 10 games in the world for 2012. That just goes to show you how many people actually play this game outside North America.
The game is described as, "the largest and most exciting farming simulator ever made."
Anyways, as I mentioned in the summary we are going to look at three key components of. The first is gameplay followed by fun factor and then graphics. I'll include a video at the end of this post to give you an idea about how the game plays.
As you would imagine the gameplay for farming simulator is a bit dry. Much of what you do in the game is just drive a tractor around. For some people this is very monotonous, and for others that are going to have a lot of fun.
The gameplay revolves around planting fields, harvesting fields, and feeding animals. It has the same basic concepts as you would find on a real farm. The main difference is the fact that you are not driving a real tractor, but you get a feel for what it's actually like.
Driving a tractor around in this game is very similar to the way you drive a car in-car simulator games. You drive with your standard WASD so it should be very familiar to you.
One of the advantages of this game is the fact that you do get to drive around tractors. A nice feature that is in the game is the ability to add mods. You can find for everything, from maps to tractors.
With mods, it really helps to keep the gameplay fresh. Because much of what you do in this game is very similar, the ability to add mods makes the game a lot more fun. It also creates a community that involves many people.
Depending on what type of person you are, this game is going to be really fun or not fun at all.
If you are the type of person who enjoys simulators, you are going to enjoy this game. This game revolves around driving a tractor, planting fields and harvesting them.
If you're the type of person who doesn't enjoy simulators, chances are you won't enjoy this game very much. Because it resembles reality so much, it is going to seem probably boring to you.
Overall, the fun factor of this game is going to depend on what type of person you are. I would say that it's about an average level of fun.
The graphics in farming simulator are okay. If you are using the standard equipment the game comes with, all of the tractors and implements will look fine. That is the problem though they are just fine.
Some of the equipment really shines when it is a mod that you downlaoed. I have seen some fantastic mods. Some people even go as far as to add reflections to implements, and having to buy more baler twine. It is those mods that look fantastic.
In terms of maps, the original map that farming simulator comes with is all right. It is never going to be your Battlefield game, they just don't have that budget. Considering how big the company actually is, I think we do a pretty good job in terms of graphics.
To sum up, the graphics in farming simulator okay, but nothing special.
This game definitely isn't for everybody. As I mentioned before, some people are going to love this game, and other people are going to hate it. It really boils down to what type person you are.
One thing that I mentioned that was really cool about this game was the mods you can download. In my opinion, this is where the game really shines. There are tons of cool mods out there that you can download and try out.
Finally, farming simulator is a great simulator. If you're not into the simulators, you won't like this game.
What do you think about the game?
