Farouk CHI Flat Iron Review - Is It Any Good?

By | May 13, 2010 | 2 Comments | Rating: 0

The Farouk CHI flat iron is a very popular choice of hair straightener on the market. The Farouk CHI ceramic flat iron was the first to have ceramic plates, making it one of the bestsellers ever. But are today's Farouk CHI flat irons any good or have they been superseded by other brands of flat iron? Read on if you wish to find out the answer.

You can still buy the original CHI ceramic flat iron by Farouk but it might be better for you to buy a Farouk CHI Turbo flat iron. CHI Turbo flat irons tend to come in 3 different plate sizes; 0.75", 1" and 2". Choosing the suitable size will depends on your hair type. Generally, you should be getting narrower plate sizes if your hair is shorter or thinner. Conversely, if you have long or coarse hair, then you're best using a wider plate. Below are some advantages and disadvantages of the Farouk CHI Turbo flat iron.

Advantages of the Farouk CHI Flat Iron

The Turbo CHI flat iron by Farouk come with a 10 foot swivel cord and having that extra length can make the CHI flat iron really easy to use, especially when you are trying to reach behind to straighten hair at the back. It also comes with a circuit break for safety and only uses around 20 watts of electricity thus helping you to save on electricity bills. The CHI Turbo also has one of the fastest heat-up times (of just a few seconds) and like the other CHI flat irons such as the Farouk CHI 1 flat iron and the Farouk CHI 2 flat iron, it has some nicely designed handles that are relatively easy to grip.

Disadvantages of the Farouk CHI Flat Iron

There is one major drawback of CHI flat irons: they don't use Tourmaline plates. Most manufacturers are now incorporating Tourmaline on to the ceramic plates as Tourmaline emits 6 times more negative ions than conventional ceramic plates. These negative ions are important as they help to close the cuticle layer to create a smooth, silky hair surface and seal in the hair's natural moisture. They also help to greatly reduce frizziness.

Why this material has not been infused into any Farouk CHI flat iron is hard to say. Besides, CHI flat irons are not exactly cheap: for the same money you can buy a tourmaline flat iron from a competitor like the T3 Tourmaline flat iron.

Conclusion

So, to sum up, is the Farouk CHI flat iron any good? Well, the answer is a definite Yes. There are plenty of positive and excellent reviews of this top rated flat iron from both consumers and professionals alike.

If you want a professional hair straightener and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you buy from http://HairProductsPro.com they are also giving away a free heat matt/carrying case. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair. You can also check reviews at http://hairstraightenersreviews.com to see their ranking of the top 10 hair straighteners. You can also check Google for reviews on Karmin. Good luck and I hope this helps.
