Cranberry Smoothie

Buying the Cranberries

Buy the best cranberries to make your smoothie.  Organic is best but if you can't get organic, then pick through your cranberries to make sure the skin is not bruised. Cranberries are packed with vitamin C, phytonutrients, fiber, manganese and vitamin K. Cranberries have antioxidant properties that have anti-cancer and digestion benefits.  The cranberry is also said to help flush toxins from the systems and increase metabolism and help burn excess calories.  Sort your cranberries and pick out anything that does not belong.  Put the cranberries in a strainer and rinse them under cool water. Set them aside.

Blending The Mixture

Blender(65963)

The type of blender you use is up to you. As long as it has a motor and a blade it should do the job.  Fill your blender is 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of fresh cranberries.  Add 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of spring or filtered water.  You can substitute the water for cranberry juice or another juice that you like.

Add Your Dairy (This Is Optional)

To give your smoothies a creamy texture and to add nutrients like calcium and vitamin A to your smoothie, add 1/2 cup of whole milk, skim milk, or yogurt to the smoothie mixture and blend. You can also add the fat flush whey protein at this step as well.

Add More Fruit

Like more fruit? Then add your favorite fruit to the mix.  Apples, bananas, peaches and plums, blueberries and cherries are all high in vitamins and minerals.  They also give your smoothie an extra kick.  If your smooties get too thick, you can add more water, juice or dairy to loosen it up a bit.

As for ice, you can add crushed ice to your taste or you can prepare your smoothie ahead of time and put them in individual serving containers in the freezer or refrigerators.  Frozen smoothies make a great treat morning or evening.
