Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

By Edited Apr 9, 2016 1 1

Who doesn't like a good chocolate chip cookie?! I understand there may be a few people out there, but for the most part, they are a favorite. I have two recipes I make on a regular basis - one takes a little more time, so I only do it when I have most of the day.

I'll start with the more time consuming one....but it is by far the best!

Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2 cups butter or margarine
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 5 cups blended oatmeal (measure out 5 cups oatmeal and blend to a flour in food processor)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (original recipe calls for 3, but I find it to be a lot)
  • 1 semi-sweet chocolate baking square, grated
  • 2 cups chopped nuts (optional...I don't put the nuts in, and they turn out great)

Preheat oven to 350°F

Cream butter and both sugars. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix in flour, oatmeal, baking powder and baking soda. Add chocolate chips, grated chocolate and nuts (if used). Roll into balls and place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350°F oven for 10-12 minutes. Makes 112 cookies. Remove from pan while warm and place on a cooling rack. (I find my stoneware pan works great for cookies...don't use a regular cookie sheet anymore.)

These freeze well...but don't expect them to make it to the freezer.

Original Chocolate Chip Cookies

* I have modified the original recipe to make a bigger batch, plus changed some ingredient quantities.

  • 2 cups butter, softened (margarine works as well, but cookies are softer with butter)
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1½ cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup smarties or chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350°F

Cream butter and both sugars. Add vanilla, eggs and baking soda. Mix in flour and chocolate chips. Drop dough by spoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake in 350°F oven for 10 - 12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Transfer to a cooling rack when done. Allow to cool completely before storing. These also freeze well. Enjoy!

Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite cookie. I have yet to taste one that I didn't like. I'm bookmarking your receipt to try later. Good to see you here, at IB. Thumbs Up!
