All mold has the potential to create health risks for those exposed to a mold infestation environment. Mold is a fungus that eats nutrients from the building materials in your home and releases air particles that are organic compounds and toxic in nature to humans. It's important to periodically inspect your home for mold, because something as small as a leaky pipe could sprout mold growth in your home. If you do find mold, it's better to get rid of it with a little bit of bleach or Clorox. Be prepared to use proper respiratory and other personal protective equipment. If you are not confident in removing the mold or have a large mold infestation, then it would be best to seek professional help. Most professional mold removers can sample the air to access the risk involved in the mold present. Also, this is a great way to pinpoint the strain of mold that you have present in your home to ensure you are not exposed to a black mold infestation.

If you come into contact with mold and have serious sickness due to your exposure, please see a doctor. It may be prudent to identify what mold strain you're dealing with before you try to remediate a mold infestation. As always, use proper personal protective equipment to protect yourself and prevent the spread of contamination.
