Corticosteroids are the generic drugs administered in case the inflammations in case any of the dermatitis conditions become severe. These are used to control inflammations quickly and effectively. These are the class of hormones originated in adrenal cortex and linked to various physiologic systems like metabolism rate of carbohydrates, regulation of the electrolyte levels in blood, protein synthesis, etc. Keeping this property in mind , they also find use in controlling inflammation arising due to dermatitis.

Corticosteroids are generally applied locally but in that case need be they can be administered in form of IV Treatment for Allergic Dermatitis.

IV treatment for allergic dermatitis

Intramuscular application helps in controlling the inflammation quickly thus increasing the use of these type of drugs as part of IV Treatment for Allergic Dermatitis. A corticosteroid used frequently in case of IV Treatment for Allergic Dermatitis is Prednisone, which is very effective. It is the also effective for eczema. It has a mineralocorticoid action coupled with an additive glucocorticoid effect.

The IV treatment for allergic dermatitis is however to be resorted to as an emergency treatment only and oral administration should be continued as maintenance part of the treatment to keep the condition stable. No side effects are usually normally seen but in certain cases they may occur in form of body malaise, gastrointestinal intolerance, weight gain, increase in appetite, nervousness, increased infections, impaired healing and derailed diabetes.

The IV treatment for allergic dermatitis may also be given in the form of pulsed intravenous corticosteroid. A common drug effectively used for this is methylprednisolone (250-1000 milligrams dosage). Other form of IV treatment for allergic dermatitis also involves use of adequate dose of the Corticosteroid dexamethasone administered consecutively for one day and going upto five days.

IV treatment for allergic dermatitis ensures a control on the disease much more rapidly and effectively as compared to conventional oral doses. It is observed that while administrating IV treatment for allergic dermatitis, marked reduction in long-term maintenance in the dosage of corticosteroid is seen and there are far lesser side effects. An efficient IV treatment for allergic dermatitis consists of methylprednisolone ( 2150-1000 mg/day) for upto five days in pulsated intravenous manner.
