Features You Need In Fishing Chairs
When most people go fishing on the shore of their favorite pond, lake, river, or stream, they often just grab the tackle box and rods and go. They don't think about how important fishing chairs are to their adventures, or how comfortable it would be to have one. Unless you are one of the anglers that steadily walks the banks, you might want to consider investing in a nice fishing chair to add to your collecting of gear to take to the pond. Manufacturers are adding a lot more features to the chairs they are putting out, and you can often find some pretty incredible deals if you look hard enough.
Above all when it comes to finding fishing chairs, you are going to want to look for some comfort. I have found a few that are so comfortable, that you can pull your hat brim down, loosen the drag, and start taking a nap until the drag sings. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, and one that I practice quite often. I call this fishing, instead of catching. You can't get this type of comfort with those cheap vinyl fishing chairs though, so keep that in mind.
If you take any kind of refreshments with you, you are going to want a good fishing chair that has some cup holders on it. Having to set your drinks on the ground means that ants and other bugs can get into it, or you are going to end up knocking it over from moving around. It happens to me all the time, and having a good set of cup holders on the chair lets you put a drink on one side, with your keys, phone, and other small items on the other side. Most chairs come with these, but you would be surprised at the amount that don't.
The last feature that you are going to want in your fishing chair is a rod holder. What good is taking a nap if you have to worry about the rod going flying into the water? A lot of chairs that are being produced now have pinch rod holders where you jam the rod butt into the holder and it applies sufficient pressure to keep it locked into place. These are by far the best rod holders to have on a chair, and as mentioned earlier, make sure to loosen your drag before you fall asleep so you aren't replacing any rods!
