Few Hints on a Refurbishing Your Bathroom

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

The kitchen is one of the most essential rooms in the home to increase the value, but so is the bathroom. Therefore, if you are thinking about revamping your bathroom, there are a few things you will want to consider. Adding value to your home is one of the biggest benefits of updating the bathroom and here are some hints on how to achieve that.

Any home that has two or more bathrooms is going to raise the value of it. Houses with only one bathroom can be harder to sell, and normally sell for much less than homes with two or more bathrooms. Putting in a second bathroom can also enhance the livability of the home, whether you are going to to sell or not. Installing another bathroom off the master bedroom can be a particularly valuable home improvement project, and a very desirable one for your family as well. The parents will be ecstatic having their own separate bathroom space, while the children will love not having to share the single bathroom. However, from an economic point of view, it would be a damaging idea to transform a three-bedroom house with one bathroom into a two-bedroom house with two bathrooms.

When looking at replacing flooring, bear in mind that the type of flooring you put down can add value to your home. Making the wrong choice can make your bathroom look inferior and unappealing. Choose the flooring with care, what you like may not be what other individuals like, so choose wisely.

There are numerous different flooring choices and not all of them practical for a bathroom. Still, if you want to add value to the house, your best bet is to use ceramic, porcelain, or any other neutral stone tile. Vinyl, laminate, or carpet do not add or increase to the value of your house, as they are considered floor covering. Wooden and laminate floor coverings can get water damaged and warp so don't last very long.

All bathrooms have a toilet, their function being very important. If you are going to replace the rest of the bathroom, neglect to replace the toilet for a newer model, otherwise the whole refurbished effect will be wasted.

Put in a jet bath, or better still put a whirlpool bath in the bathroom for the main bedroom, a little bit of indulgence goes a long way. While useful they can add a touch of elegance to bathroom and they are definitely relaxing after a long day working. They do not have to be costly either, look around and you may find a good price.

When refurbishing the bathroom, make sure everything matches and is not a mis-match of different designs. The bathroom decor should match the rest of the house, a modern looking bathroom in a farmhouse style home is going to look out of place. Choose the feel you would like for your bathroom and try to keep to it.
