Fight Acne With Green Tea

Green Tea, An All Natural Acne Remedy?

Green tea, I'm sure you've heard the benefits of this "miracle drink" before and perhaps you're a bit skeptical. Green tea has been touted as a cancer fighter, stress reducer, and even a weight loss promoter. And now I'm telling you it can fight acne and help your skin as well?! Well there's some truth to it, in fact numerous studies have been shown to support these claims.

You see green tea is packed with polyphenols and antioxidants, molecules which help protect your body's cells from dangerous free radicals and aging. Evidence exists that it may even have some anti-virulent properties, this is what makes the green tea acne remedy so effective.

A word of caution before you start buying up bags of green tea, however. Make sure that you don't use caffeinated tea! The caffeine can damage your skin and hinder your efforts to obtaining clear skin. Here's my recommendations on how to wash your face with green tea.

How To Apply Green Tea To Your Face:

There are several ways you can apply the green tea to your face, and none of them are inherently better than the others. The first method, and my personal favorite, is by soaking a tea bag in warm water and tearing it open. I then rub the tea leaves over my face in a sort of mask. The ground tea leaves exfoliate the skin and it assists in the skin's absorption of the green tea's nutrients.

Another application method is by brewing some green tea and washing your face normally as if the green tea is water. This takes a bit longer and may be less effective, but it is certainly easier to clean up.

The third, and perhaps most time consuming way, is to brew green tea then pour it into an ice cub tray and freeze. Once frozen you can manually rub the cube on your face. This is the least messy option, though it can get a bit cold!

Green Tea Can Be Combined With Other Acne Treatments

Another pro to the green tea acne treatment approach is due to the fact that there are no side effects. Typically you can combine green tea application with other acne remedies such as adaplene, benzoil perozide, and salacylic acid. Just make sure to check with your dermatologist or other health care provider to ensure that there will be no harmful side effects!
