By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

The Four Hour Work Week is a book written by Timothy Ferris. He originally wrote the very first copy in 2007. A new and updated version of this book was published this year. It is currently available as a hardback book. The full name of the books is The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join The New Rich.

Four Hour Work Week
The whole idea behind The Four Hour Work Week is about how Timothy has worked out a system in order to reduce the amount of hours he spends working in order to actually enjoy his life. The whole premise of the book is to show you how to basically learn how to stop working for work's sake and to use the majority of your time to pursue your leisurely pursuits. This is done by finding your muse – a way to make money on auto pilot – and really deciding what type of life you want to lead.

About The Author

Timothy Ferris is an American who was born and grew up in New York. Among many of his accomplishments, he has set up several businesses; his name can be found in the Guinness Book of Records where he holds the record for being able to carry out the most consecutive tango spins within the time period of one minute. He also held the title as a National Kickboxing champion at one time and is now a partner in several online companies.

About The Book

The Four Hour Work Week was written as a semi-autobiography and self help book. Timothy describes all the actions that he took in order to streamline his life so that he could get the most out of it while working as little as possible. The aim was to get the art of making money down to as few hours as possible so that he could do the things that really gave him joy. This meant that he was able to take "mini vacations" visiting different places around the world for extended periods of time knowing that the systems he had put in place meant that he could still earn a living without being stuck in an office or restricted by location at all.

The author actually created his own acronym that fully expresses the actions that he took to create the lifestyle that he wanted.

DEAL

D = Definition

E = Elimination

A = Automation

L = Liberation

Definition

The most important thing is to figure out exactly what you want from your life and how you can achieve this goal. Figure out if your hopes and dreams can become a reality and how much this reality will actually cost.

Elimination

This describes the things that you need to do in order to reduce the amount of time you use to carry out all the tasks in your life. You have to work out the ways in which you can use your time more efficiently.

Automation

After you have defined what you want out of life and how you can earn your living to live the life you want, you need to work out how to pay for it. Automation looks at how to go about designing a money making opportunity that works on auto pilot.

Liberation

This looks at what you can actually do with the freedom that you have now been able to achieve after working your way through the previous steps.

The Four Hour Work Week is a book that should be on the book shelf of anyone who has ever dreamed of finding ways to create the lifestyle that enables you to escape the 9 to 5 slog. The updated version of the book also includes lots of case studies so you can actually read the success stories from people who followed Tim's advice and are now living a wonderful debt free, location independent lifestyle
