Finding Cheap Plantation Shutters Online

By | Aug 30, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

I love the look of Plantation Shutters. I think they are some of the most elegant and graceful window coverings I have seen. However, finding the right shutters at the right price can sometimes be difficult.

Many plantation shutters are, just as they originally were, made from hard wood. While this hard Cedar or Adler wood looks lovely, it is both expensive to buy and not the easiest material to take care of. Wood fades, warps and scratches fairly easily. An alternative is to buy faux wood plantation shutters. These look great and from a distance it is hard to tell the difference, but one drawback with them is their weight. Faux wood blinds are usually heavier than real wood blinds, which makes drawing them up and down quite difficult if the shutters are covering large windows, for example.

The best alternative for finding the discount plantation shutter is to look online. There are many different sites offering shutters and blinds for sale, ranging from the ever popular on line auction sites, to specific online stores centered around selling window coverings and blinds. Oftentimes these stores are just the online presence of a real "shop" though they also offer to handle all of the ordering and shipping online.

Once you have decided what type of shutters you want, it is very simple to visit the many different on line stores until you find the plantation shutters you want at the price you are willing to pay for them. Some things you need to determine before actually placing your order are whether there are any other additional, hidden costs you might incur, if the price you are paying includes shipping costs or if they will be added on afterwards, and whether your order will come complete with all the accessories you need to actually mount the shutters.

If you need to alter the size of the shutter in any way, or have it otherwise customized, this may or may not cost you extra money. Usually once you start to place your order you can communicate with the store either through email, their online support, or sometimes they also have a number you can call. I would suggest that you get in touch and find out all of these details before you actually go ahead and place your order.

Shipping is sometimes free for orders over a certain size too. If it is not free, or set as a specific standard rate, then look for a shop that is close to where you live. This way you will be able to cut down on shipping costs.

Of course it also goes without saying, if you want to keep your costs down make sure that either you or someone you know can help put up the plantation shutters. Otherwise you may have to pay for someone to install them, again adding to your overall costs for this project!
