If you're looking to buy a dirt bike, it helps to know all the places that it's easy to find dirt bikes for sale and what you're likely to find from each. Here is a list of some of the best places to look when you want to buy a dirt bike.

-Craigslist is a great place to look. Like lots of other hobby items, people sometimes need to sell a dirt bike. Sometimes it's because they bought a new bike, other times it's because they just don't ride anymore. But frequently, they're looking to sell something because they need some money. This makes Craigslist a great place to buy dirt bikes and get a great price. Because you're usually dealing with individuals, almost every Craigslist sale will be as-is and no warranty. So it helps if you have a little mechanical knowledge so you can make a good assessment of the quality of the bike, and also perform some of the potential repairs yourself. Craigslist is also good if you're not in a big hurry to find a dirt bike for sale, as you can just check the listings every couple of days until you find that perfect deal.

-Online forums are another great place to look for dirt bikes for sale. Enthusiasts gather in forums to talk about riding, different bikes, accessories, etc.... Just do a quick search for 'dirt bike forums' in Google and then click around in a couple until you find a buy/sell section. There you'll be able to read reviews from people who have purchased dirt bikes from all kinds of people in your area, especially dealers. This will give you a good idea which dealers you want to do business with and how they treat customers before and after the sale. Online forums are a huge resource any time that you're looking for information about one particular aspect of your hobby.

-Local shops and retailers. Once you've read some reviews online, go check out the stores in person. If you're looking for a specific model, you may have to buy from a store. Understand that prices at stores are usually higher, but you can still bargain a bit and try to save some money. One good thing to do is see if a dirt bike you're interested hasn't sold for a few weeks, that may indicate they will be more willing to cut the price down a bit just to get rid of it. While you're there, see if they have a board where people can post flyers for bikes that they're selling. Sometimes you can find what you're looking for that way also.

-Local newspapers will have online classified postings for items for sale. This is another quick and easy place to check. Similar to Craigslist, people posting in classified sections will usually be motivated to sell, which can save you some money.

It's easy to find dirt bikes for sale if you follow these techniques. Once you've found that perfect bike though, it's up to you to make sure it's in good shape and that you get a great price.
