Finding The Right Motorscooter Insurance For You

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Motor scooters are a growing popular alternative form of transportation that is used around the world. And like with any form of transportation that has an engine, you need motorscooter insurance for them. Scooters may be slightly more popular overseas in Europe and the UK but it's popularity is spreading to the United States as well.

Motorscooters go back all the way to the early 1900's but it wasn't until the 1940's when an Italian designer, Piaggio Vespa, created the D'Ascanio, the first of many in the Vespa motor scooter line. Today there are hundreds of different brands and even more different types and sizes of motor scooters. Sizes range from just under 50cc to over 800cc (which are really just motorcycles at that point).

Whether you have a small 50cc scooter or a large 400cc scooter, you will need insurance to ride them legally in most places. Motorscooter insurance isn't that hard to obtain and it is possible to get some that is affordable. You just have to research and spend the time finding motor scooter insurance quotes.

How To Find Affordable Motorscooter Insurance

Most large insurance companies (like Geico, Progressive, Nationwide, etc.) have a moped insurance and scooter insurance division and you can look at their sites to compare prices. There are also sites that specifically compare prices of different companies and try to show you what they cover. Beware of some of those sites though, because they may be paid review sites and not unbiased reviews of them.

Other good places to look when searching for cheap motorscooter insurance is your local yellowpages. You can find different companies in your area and then speak to an agent who will help you get the right plan for your needs. Just remember that you will at least have to have the bare minimum coverage required which will depend on where you live. It is usually a good idea to not skimp out on coverage, especially if you modify your scooter, because if you ever do get into an accident you don't want to have to pay out repair costs and/or medical bills out of pocket. But that doesn't mean you can't find low cost motorcycle insurance with good coverage.
