Finding a Suitable Ping Pong Shoe

By | Jan 17, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

One of the most important items of Ping Pong apparel that you need to wear are your Ping Pong shoes. Being able to move quickly to the ball is the fundamental part of Ping Pong and is a factor you should definitely consider when looking for a pair of Ping Pong shoes. In this article I will outline 3 important factors you should think about when looking to buy a pair of new Ping Pong shoes.

Comfortable
First and foremost a Ping Pong shoe should be comfortable for the wearer. When try on a new pair of shoes check to see whether the shoes fit the shape and length of your foot. Walk around in them and ask yourself: is there any part of the shoe which is rubbing on the side of my foot or could interfere with my movement in any way? It is important to ask yourself this question because the last thing you want is a shoe which feels uncomfortable or will interfere with your movement.

The Right Size
To ensure a shoe is the right size a good idea is to find the end of your big toe and check to see if there is a finger space from the tip to the end of the shoe. By ensuring the shoe has enough space from the highest part of your foot to the end of the shoe will allow for enough space for your foot to go backwards and forwards without you hitting the front end of the shoe.

Durable/Lightweight
The one key area I pay particular attention to when searching for Ping Pong shoes is whether the shoes are both durable and lightweight. This is because in Ping Pong you need fast movement to get to the ball quickly and the more weight that your shoe carriers the harder it is for you to move your feet at a faster speed. But at that same time you should be looking for durability, especially around the front and back sections of the shoe because a durable shoe will generally be able to withstand constant friction against the ground resulting in them lasting longer.
