Fireplace Doors Information

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

If you have a fireplace in your home then it is a good idea to get fireplace glass doors. They can be very striking and attractive and make your home look more complete. They also increase energy efficiency. Fireplace doors act as a barrio between your home and your chimney. They create a nearly air tight seal that will keep your heat and air-conditioning within your home. In the winter you will not be heating the outdoors, almost all the heat will stay inside.

Fireplace Doors - Keep Vents Clean

If you leave your glass doors closed while burning a fire then you must clean the vent after every use. The vent is very important because it allows your fire to only burn the outside air and not the air that is inside your home.

Fireplace Doors - Ceramic Glass Vs. Tempered Glass

When picking a set of fireplace doors make sure to get glass that can withstand high heat. Ceramic glass is stronger than tempered glass so keep that in consideration. Ceramic glass allows radiant heat to come in and they are also highly heat resistant. However, to get these benefits you will need to pay more of course.

Fireplace Doors - Proper Fitting

While a tempered glass fireplace will increase the efficiency of your fireplace by reducing excess airflow, it is not as effective at doing so as a ceramic glass fireplace door. Another important factor is making sure your fireplace doors are properly fitted. You need the doors to be well sealed or their efficiency will tank. Lastly, you should make sure that your fireplace doors are always nice and clean because burning a fire can cause them to get dirty very quickly. A simple window cleaner should do the trick.

Wonderful article. Fireplace doors are a nice compliment to your fireplaces and home decor. But moreover, having one for each fireplace is very essential because it makes the fireplace much safer for the whole family to enjoy.
