First Season DVD Reviews OF Glee

By Edited Nov 15, 2013 1 2

Glee, the hit new TV show that launched in 2009 on FOX, is a dramedy that focuses on the members in a local high school's upcoming Glee club. The club (called The New Directions) is getting into the local show choir circuit and all the while various members are battling social, romance, and sexuality issues.

Season 2 has already started airing on FOX and the Glee DVD and Blu-ray for the 1st season has already been released. With that, I figured I could do a round-up of user reviews on the first season and give you a feel for just what you'll be getting with the DVD.

What The Reviewers Like:

"The series is so different, so creative, and so addictive." - This is definitely one of the facets of Glee that really makes it stand out relative to traditional television. The idea of crea

Sue Sylvester
ting a musical dramedy TV show is just extremely unique and the way in which the directors combine pop music along with broadway hits really makes the series pop.

"She is so deliciously mean that you want to cheer her cuelty on!" - Sue is definitely a favorite of the viewers and she delivers a big part of the laughter that makes Glee a really fun show to watch. Her character's lines are beautifully written and often maliciously cut into the other main adult star, Mr. Schuester.

"I can watch these episodes repeatedly and still find myself singing along and excited" - Again, the musical nature of the series makes it astonishingly watchable. It's almost similar to watching a television show that is littered with amazing music videos - you enjoy the music videos so much that you simply can not stop watching the show.

What They Hate:

"Don't be mis-led by the numerous one star reviews... most are just ill-founded opinions re: feeling forced into purchasing the 1st half of Glee Season 1." - It appears that a number of folks online are angry by the fact that the first half of season 1 was released on DVD and now a Glee DVD (or Blu-ray) for the entire 1st season has been released. This confuses me somewhat as the Glee DVD for the 2nd half of the first season was also released, enabling folks who purchased the 1st half of season 1 to round out their set. That said, the second volume of Glee season 1 is in some places pricier than the complete first season, so that may be annoying some buyers.

Hope the Glee DVD review snapshot was helpful. Enjoy your gleekdom!
