Commercials - This can be an annoying part of watching TV, but it makes the perfect time to try and squeeze in some home fitness without equipment.
Be prepared ahead of time, and make sure there is a clear area in your TV room, so that you can leap into action at the first hint of a TV commercial. Depending on the show you are watching, you could end up fitting in almost 20 minutes of fat busting exercises with a one hour T
Wear Something Comfortable - Get out of your daytime work clothes and into your comfy sweat pants, but remember this is so you can do some quick exercises, not to lounge in with a bowl of chips!
Create a simple workout for each set of commercials that comes on. Make each set a little different to to stop from getting bored.
Stretches - At the start of your TV show, try and do a few stretches to get limbered up. Try reaching for the sky and then touching your toes if you can.
Jumping Jacks - These are the quickest and easiest exercises to do. You can really get your heart rate up if those commercials are a couple of minutes.
Stairs - Running up and down a flight of stairs during the break is another great way to get
Yoga - Practice a few yoga poses, to really stretch and give those muscles a workout.
Push ups - Get down on the floor, and start doing some push ups. If you can only do 3, well that is better than zero.
Sit ups - Get down on the floor again for this one, and start those crunches, the best you can. Remember you will get better at this if you continue with these quick home exercises to help lose weight and stay limber and fit.
Chair pull ups - These work best with a hard chair, but you may be able to do these from your couch. Simply sit up straight and then with your hands at your sides to support you (or holding on to the edge of the chair) lift your fit off the ground a inch or two. You will be able to feel this in your belly muscles. Repeat this as many times as you can during the break.
Quick Exercises With Simple Equipment - If you can swing a few pieces of equipment, then you can take this up a notch to help lose weight and feel more limber.
Small hand weights - You can use cans of soup for this if you don't have any hand weights.
Skipping Rope - This would make a great commercial break exercise, just make sure you have clearance and don't take out any light fixtures!
Treadmill or Stationary Cycle - You could drag these out and place them in the TV room, and maybe get on them during the entire show instead of the breaks! Get all your laundry off of them and dust them off ready for use.
The idea behind these tips, is that you don't have to belong to a gym, or run a marathon to help with your fitness goals. You can get your heart rate up with some cardio exercises and do some resistant training for your muscles, and take a break when your show comes back on.
The idea is that you are not sitting on that couch for your entire show! Replace the chip bowl with some veggies and low fat dip, and always have a tall glass of water around with a few slices of lemon in it, instead of soda, and then get off the couch and get your body moving.
Even if it is only for a few minutes at a time. You can get some intense running up and down the stairs, or jumping jacks going even in that short a time, if you put some effort into it.
These quick fitness exercises along with a few tweaks to your daily diet are going to help you to lose weight and keep it off. This way you can still fit in fitness with your shows when your down time is tight.
Don't become that "couch potato" use the breaks to get moving, and your body will feel the effects long after the show is over. Maybe you can even consider a few moves while the show is on, and then add even more time to your multi-tasking workout!
