Five Holiday Decoration Ideas
As the holiday season hastily approaches, homeowners are looking for fun ways to add character to their interior décor. Set aside the chaotic holiday shopping and relax while setting up some merry adornments. While holiday decorations may often be considered as corny or childish, what better way to be joyful than with some fun and unique holiday decoration ideas? The entire family can de-stress while decorating the home and jumpstart the Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanzaa season. Holiday decorations don't have to cost a fortune and can be rather affordable. Here are five holiday decoration ideas to add to the home.
- Pine cones and pine trees are a definite design theme during the season. Look for ways to add the sweet smelling greenery in the form of a tree, as a centerpiece on the dining room table, or as a wreath on the front door with matching furniture knobs.
- If young children live in the home, put up their special classroom projects as part of the home's holiday décor. Many little ones will spend a good amount of time in class making Thanksgiving turkeys, Santa hats, snowmen and holiday drawings to get in the spirit. Put up their much loved creations in the living room and kitchen for the whole family and guests to enjoy.
- The fireplace and mantle are prime real estate for some holiday decorating. Look for fake snow to place on top of the mantle, menorahs, Chanukah figurines, snowmen, angels, snow globes, and other holiday spirited bits and pieces to adorn the area.
- Window and door adornments are an easy way to add some holiday cheer to any room and require minimal installation. Pick out a holiday-themed fabric and create a windowscape with custom drapery to correlate with the home and holiday season. Shop around for seasonal door knobs or door fixtures that add cheer to the season. Window rods are also available to coincide with the drapery and door installations.
- The guest bathroom is also another place to add holiday decorations. Shop around for scented soaps and candles for guests to use, such as pumpkin, vanilla bean, or cinnamon spice to compliment the smells of the season.
