Five ideas for stress relief for single mothers

By | Nov 17, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Single mothers have to work harder to provide for their children, which they then have to go home and parent by themselves. It's a hard job. It's important that single mothers find a way to take care of themselves to stay at their healthiest. Finding healthy ways to deal with stress is a big part of that.

From yoga to spa days there are lots of venues for help for single mothers in their stress relief journeys. If you haven't already, try one of the following five ideas to unwind, kick back, and recharge. Your children will thank you.

  • Sip on a glass of wine

Turn off the television, cell phone, and radio after the kids go to bed and open a bottle of wine. Sip on it and let your mind empty of all thoughts. Just focus on sipping the wine. Not a wine drinker? Sip slowly on a class of tea. A nice lavender tea before bed is a nice way to relax.

  • Go outside and scream or smash something

This is for the worst of days when anger and frustration mounts. Let that frustration out. Of course, probably not a good idea to let the kids see this one. They might think Mommy's lost it totally. So drive away into the country and scream out the window or scream into a pillow.

  • Go on a date

You're single, go mingle. Yes, dates can cause stress, but it's a fun stress that gets your mind off all the not so exciting stress. Don't be picky, you don't have to marry the man so say yes to Stan the annoying man at your office that's been asking you out just to go out and have fun.

  • Ben and Jerry's

Enough said.

  • Find someone to talk to

A good therapist will change your life. Don't be afraid to get professional help to learn more and better stress relief techniques.

Ahhh. Now go! Relax!
