Flash games, or online games, can be one of the best ways to pass the time at home or in some cases, even work. These games come in a variety of strategy, skill, and entertainment level to fit people of all ages. A flash game is simply a video game that is being played over an open computer network. Now more than ever, online games are extremely popular and come better designed as well. When the internet began improving and implementing java and flash into their video players, the games got much more fun and entertaining.

Flash games typically do not include gambling of actual money. That term is usually directed at online gambling. There are some games you can play online that have you place wagers on items, but if they are free it will typically be labeled as a free online game. These games can also come with installed PC or MAC software too. You can purchase games online or in local stores that catch your eye and play them on your computer. Board games, puzzles, word and educational games, and sheer entertainment games are just a few of the options you can choose from.

One of the first flash games to become popular was the infamous, Bubble Burst. From there numerous game makers made copies and replicas of similar games all over the internet. Nowdays you can probably find about 2 to 4 versions of the exact same game, just with different names.

Flash games will typically fall into 6 gaming categories. First person shooter games, simulation games, real time strategy games, browser games, multi player games, and cross platform online games. Most all of these categories have been around since the beginning of online gaming in the early 1990's. Hop online to see hundreds of games available to play online for free, just don't get too addicted.
