Flicker Shad Deep Diving Crankbaits
If you haven't tried deep diving crankbaits, you are seriously missing a boat load of fish. This smaller sized Berkley Frenzy Floating Flicker Shad 5cm version will land you more fish from the bottom - where the big ones are!
Don't let this baits smaller profile fool you. This is one fish catching lure. Bouncing it off of the bottom, or running it through your favorite brush pile, the bass, especially the big ones, can't resist the vibe this bait produces. I'll explain a few techniques to abuse this bait and unload your favorite stick up of its fish.
Banging this bait through the shallows is a great way to agitate a trophy bass.
You see, these older fish are wise, and have grown to figure out certain types of baits. What they still can't stand, is being agitated. After all, they are the king of the pond. So how do they react? Slamming it, like a freight train! If you have ever fished a Rat-L-Trap over schooling bass, than think about them hitting this crankbait just as hard. Bang it across anything you can find, if you get hung up, free it, and get to bangin' your way across the shallows once again.
Another method that I love so much, is to run this thing around long points on lakes and creeks. These sections of land meeting water extend farther out into the water than your eye can see. They provide immediate access from deep to shallow, and fish tend to congregate around areas like this. This deep diver will reach the bottom, no matter how deep (up to 20feet on 6lb line) and WILL make contact with whatever is down there.
You WILL find the fish. A few colors that I prefer to use are Black and Silver for clearer water, Red Tiger and Orange Shad for stained water, and FireTiger for extremely muddy water. If you haven't tried crankbaits yet this season, you are missing out. It's ok though, I'll enjoy the catch.
