Follicular Unit Transplant

Follicular unit transplants, also known as FUT, are quickly becoming the de facto standard in the hair transplant industry. You won't find many hair transplant clinics that don't use this modern method of transplanting hairs anymore. Follicular unit hair transplants produce superior results in comparison to the old methods of hair transplants. What FUT basically means, is that the donor hairs in the back of your head will be dissected in such a way that the naturally occurring groups of hairs are preserved.

Naturally, these groups of hairs are either 1, 2, 3 or 4 hairs on your scalp. By dissecting the donor hair in this way, the most natural results are achieved. Back in the old days, hair transplant clinic staff was still dissecting your strip of donor hair into very large groups. Some resulting grafts had up to 12 hairs! This is a very large group of hairs and the recipient wounds that have to be made on the area to be transplanted are considerable in size.

The large grafts gave people very bulky and tufted looking results. In modern day hair transplant techniques, single follicle grafts are used to reconstruct a natural looking hairline. With the old techniques, the grafts simply had too many hair follicles. Reconstructing a natural hairline was simply impossible. It gave people the doll hair effect and it wasn't exactly a pretty sight. The wounds made at the recipient site were much larger and therefore took longer to heal. When they finally did heal up, the scars they developed were significant. The results of these old fashioned methods are simply inferior to the follicular unit transplant technique that is used today.

The FUT hair transplant method mimicks the direction in which hair naturally grows. If your donor hairs are implanted by qualified people with training and experience, your results are likely to be very satisfactory. If it is done right, most people won't even see you have had a hair transplant. It will look completely natural to the human eye.

Thanks to the fact that the FUT method uses such tiny grafts, your recipient wounds will also be very tiny. They will heal up in days and leave no marks that are visible to the human eye. The chance of them developing any infections and scar tissue as a result of this, is minimal.

Thanks to FUT, bad hair transplants are quickly disappearing. The only way to go, is FUT as far as I'm concerned. Check out these celebrity hair transplants if you want to get a good idea of what results FUT can give you.
