Food that is good for kidneys
If your daily food intake incorporates large amounts of salt, sweetened beverages and processed meat, and if this has been going on for a long time, then you fall in the category of people with increased probability of having kidney problems. Now, now, no need to panic, in majority of cases kidneys can process such unhealthy diets just fine, but just to be on the safe side try to avoid the afore-mentioned food and try to incorporate more horse radish, little radish, daikon and most of all celery in your everyday meals to help out you kidneys.
Kidneys are responsible for keeping our blood clean, they are processing our blood and filtering out waste compounds that are then disposed through urine. But not only that, kidneys are also determining the levels of sodium, potassium and phosphorus in our body. Another important role of the kidney is that they release three important hormones which are necessary for synthesis of red blood cells, blood pressure regulation and keeping the proper levels of calcium in the organism. If the kidneys are healthy they can process almost any eating habits that are within reason, the problems start when the kidney function weakens. Then a person should start considering changing diet to preserve the quality of health.
Symptoms of weakened kidneys include fatigue, concentration problems, low appetite, dry skin, urinary tract infections or kidney infections, retention of water around feet and ankles and others. The symptoms usually only appear when the organ failure is fairly advanced, so it important to act fast.
Weakened kidney function that isn't properly handled can lead to unhealthy levels of potassium and/or phosphorous in our blood stream which can cause bone and muscle pain and heart problems. Vegetables that were mentioned in the beginning of this article, radish, celery are known to be the cleansers of blood, and in combination with water they can help prevent formation of kidney stones, which is another common kidney disorder. Proper diet full of vegetables and drinking proper amounts of water, the recommended 2 liters each day can prevent the formation of kidney stones, because water dilutes urine and decreases the concentrationof dangerous compounds.
The reason why vegetarian diet is good for problems with kidney stones lies in the fact that when eating fruits and vegetables, we aren't releasing calcium, oxalates and uric acid, like we do when we have a diet which mainly consists of animal proteins.
