Foods that Fight Cancer

There are various foods that we can ingest to help our bodies fight against cancer. Listed below is just a start to foods we all can start adding into our diet. Cancer does not have to be a part of our life if we can eat the right way.


Broccoli

Have the phytochemical sulforaphane, which protects your organs against blood sugar damage. It also turns on anti-breast, prostate, and colon cancer genes. These genes are called GSTM1 genes which make a protein that causes cancer cells to basically commit suicide. They say broccoli sprouts have as much as twenty times more level of sulforaphane than in heads on broccoli. Cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts are also great sources of sulforaphane but broccoli sprouts are by far the most potent to protect you against cancer. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are rich in the falvenoid lycopene, which has been shown to defend lung cancer, prostate cancer, mouth cancer, and cervical cancer. If you do not like tomatoes in general, you can still get a great consumption of lycopene from spaghetti sauce, tomato soup, and ketchup to help fight cancer. It is a main ingredient of the Mediterranean diet which has become recently popular for its health benefits.

Berries (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry)

Contain the antioxidant anthocyanins, which have been shown to protect against colon cancer and esophageal cancer. Black raspberries have a surplus of antioxidants and have more cancer-preventing properties than other berries.



Spinach

Spinach is the gold standard of green leaf vegetables. Studies have shown the eating two or more servings of spinach a week in your diet can decrease your vulnerability to lung cancer and breast cancer. Spinach is full of lutein, vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-carotene, and folic acid. All these antioxidants help ward off cancer.

Garlic

Garlic consumed at least once a week has been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Also cancer of the stomach and esophagus would be decreased with the consumption of garlic. This is another ingredient of the Mediterranean diet.

Oranges

We all know oranges have high vitamin C content. it alsois rich in other anti-cancerous compounds such as limonoids, which stimulate lymphocytes (cancer killing cells) of the immune system to destroy carcinogenic cells. Consuming oranges decreases the development lung cancer and stomach cancer. It also contains carotenoids which functions against cancer in numerous ways. Carotenoids are also found in apricots, papaya, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, corn and red peppers.

They contain the antioxidants quercetin and campferol that may suppress cancer growth. Nuts contain selenium, which is important against prostate cancer.


This short list of food choices is just a starter to help you get ready to create a healthy diet. The best thing to do is eat brightly colored fruits, vegetables, and whole grain foods and focus on the foods above will be beneficial for your self.
