Forearm Workouts

By | Jan 15, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

When it comes to working out with weights, most people totally forget about training there forearms. But this is a muscle that shouldn't be neglected, a good set of forearms will really complement your body when you are wearing a t shirt or polo shirt. Have you ever seen a guy with a big sets of biceps but his forearms are small it just doesn't look right does it.

When it comes to forearm workouts, you are lucky because its a muscle that gets hit during other exercises, but not to the extent of the exercise I'm about to show you. I like to train my forearms at the same time I train my biceps, this is because when I'm bicep curling I am using the forearms slightly to lift the weight. By adding just two to three sets of one simple exercise I find that I am hitting my forearms full on, which will allow them to grow and get bigger.

Personally there are lots of different forearm workouts and exercises out there. But the only exercise I do is the palms up dumbbell hammer curl. By simply twisting your wrists, instead of working the bicep muscle your forearm gets most of the action when lifting the dumbbell. Arm muscles are relatively small muscles when compared to other muscles such as the chest and quads. So they can easily be over trained. That's why I believe you should never do more than one different type of forearm exercise in your forearm workouts. If you are doing lots and lots of sets on your arms then quite simply you are over training and instead of getting bigger its very likely that your muscles will start getting smaller. Give yourself at least 48 hours before you train the same body part again.

Building big forearms are not build in the gym though, muscles are built out of it. This means that your body needs the correct nutrients to repair and grow. Probably the most important substance for building muscle mass is protein and one of the best sources of protein is whey protein powder. But with so many different brands out there which is the best at building lean muscle mass. Well a very popular brand out there at the moment is the delicious tasting Jay Robb whey protein brand. With so many different flavors to choose from you are going to be spoilt for choice.
