Formentera Wifi

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Looking for wifi on Formentera? It's not readily available on this small and rural island. The best thing you can do is buy a dongle – a USB wireless stick – before you arrive on the island. You should probably go for a Telefonica wireless USB, but check at the mobile provider on the Spanish mainland because they will be able to tell you about coverage. Coverage is always changing so it wouldn't be a good idea to recommend a single provider in this wifi Formentera article.

If you don't manage to get your act together prior to departure and find yourself on the island without an internet connection then the best thing you can do is head to Sant Francesc Xavier. Sant Francesc is the 'capital' of this island, and the biggest of the villages. If you head up the main street there is another street that runs parallel on the right hand side. You should make your way to that parallel street and in the middle you will see an internet and telephone box located on an island in the middle of the street.

For residents on the island of Formentera, there are broadband speeds of up to one megabyte, but it can take some time to set up the service.

Realistically, if you are on holiday for a short time the best thing to do when it comes to wifi Formentera is use a wirelessly-connected mobile device and just soak up the costs that are involved. You can minimize these costs by blocking attachments (unless your payment plan allows unlimited downloads).
