Free Cellphone for Low Income People

For many people want to get free cell phones from the government is not a want but a must have. In fact, with the industry average of U.S. Cellphone costs hovering right around $50 dollars a month, you can see that needing to get a federal government free cell phone is an ideal option. And luckily there are some options under the Lifeline Cellphone Program. The Lifeline Phone Program operates under the Virgin Mobile brand and is serviced completely by the Sprint nationwide network.

Sprint is becoming well regarded in reliable phone coverage service. So you can be rest assured that your free cell phone will work anywhere and everywhere the Sprint network has coverage.

As stated below, where I address what is included, you get virtually everything most people would ever need in a paid mobile phone plan today and this would include: voice mail, call waiting, free customer service calls etc. Now the only downside is that you actually have to pay for data calls, which are priced as low as pennies a text message.

At the time of this printing $20 dollars can buy you 1000 minutes and 1000 text messages. This is actually 1000 minutes on TOP OF your free 250 minutes a month. You should be reminded that international calling is not included in this plan, but again you can add on to that as well.

You also have the option of making any additional payments for added services directly on the Lifeline website. But as you can see, this is a great free mobile phone deal even without paying the extra $20 for text messaging and additional minutes.

Most people have given up their landline which makes this a great option under the free phone government program.

 Assurance Lifeline Program

Most people have no idea that the government help set up and provides some funding to the Assurance Lifeline Program to ensure that everyone who needs a free cellphone would be able to have one provided they fall into ONE of the below programs:

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • Federal Public Housing (FPHA)

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

  • Medicaid

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

  • National School Lunch Free Lunch Program

  • Food Stamps/SNAP

And what's better is that this free mobile phone under the Lifeline program has NO credit check and the mobile phone is even free. The only catch is that you can't go over 250 minutes per month, however, you are able to add additional minutes for a nominal fee if you'd like.

 Food Stamp Phone Service

So if you are on food stamps you can even apply for a free government cell phone. But you just don't need to be on food stamps. Typically the program has provision set up by state, but if your income is low you may also qualify for the phone government program.

What's Included in the Free Mobile Phone Program:

  •  250 FREE Minutes Added Every month automatically
  • NO Contract required and NO Activation Fees
  • A FREE Mobile Phone
  • Voicemail, Call Waiting and Caller ID
  • National Sprint Nationwide Coverage
  • NO credit check
  • 911 Calling for Emergency
  • Free Calls to Customer Care

So as you can see getting Free cell phones from the government is a real possibility if you have a low income, are a senior citizen or receive forms of public assistance, including section 8 and the like.
