Using a Pumpkin Template or Stencil

It is ideal to begin with a simple pumpkin carving stencil if you're new to the whole pumpkin carving routine. More seasoned pumpkin carvers may select a more difficult pumpkin carving pattern and cut all the way through the pumpkin. Here is the lowdown on how to use a printed pumpkin stencil:

1. Preferably print two copies of the pumpkin carving pattern.

2. Attach the stencil onto the pumpkin and use a sharp pin to make a line of pin points along the lines in the image of the pumpkin stencil.

3.Lift the pumpkin carving pattern from a corner to check the pin points to ensure that they are clear enough to use as guidelines (go over them with the same method if they are not).

4. Remove the pumpkin carving stencil.

5. Cut along the top of the pumpkin around the stem of the pumpkin and remove the insides of the pumpkin.

6. Use the second copy of the printable pumpkin carving stencil to guide you when carving.
