Free Truck Driving Training
Free truck driving training sounds to good to be true, but in reality, it is very much a real option for those who are interested in getting free CDL training.
CDL training is appealing because it leads to a fun career and the training is usually relatively short. The downside is that when free CDL training isn't free, it tends to be very, very expensive. Truck driving schools can cost between $5,000 and $9,000, and that's only for a program that lasts between 4 weeks and 6 months. As you can see, free truck driving training would be an enormous benefit.
But how is it that you get the all illusive free truck driver training? Well, even though CDL jobs are in high demand, you should be aware that no one is going to hunt you down to offer you the free CDL training; you're going to have to do a lot of researching and a lot of networking. Here's what you need to do to get free truck driving training.
Enroll in a free truck driving training program that offers a built in job as part of their training.
One viable way to get free CDL training is to choose a trucking school that offers you a job right after your graduation. The stipulation for the free truck driving training is that you must sign a contract that you will stay employed for them for a set period of time.
This is an excellent option; you are getting free CDL training as well as near-guarantee when it comes to landing a job. It's important to remember that with truck driving, time is of the essence when it comes to finding a job; if you graduate from a free CDL training school (or any CDL school for that matter) and don't find a job within 6 months of employment, you may find that you will never land a CDL job because people will look at you as an "out of practice newbie". Accepting this kind of contract in exchange for free truck driver training should be a no-brainer.
Approach a company you want to work for (or already work for) and see if they would be willing to pay for your CDL training.
This takes a lot of effort and a well thought out offer, but it is possible to get free CDL training by getting your company to pay for it. This option works best when you are already employed by the company (they know you're a good worker and it would benefit the employer) and you would like to add a CDL to your resume.
