Everyone can used a little extra money nowadays. If you live in California or have lived in California, you can do a free unclaimed money search. In the state of California if money goes unclaimed for 3 years, then the institution (such as a bank, brokerage house, credit union, etc...) that is holding the money must send it to the state for safekeeping.

To begin your free unclaimed money search for California, you need to log onto the internet and go to: http://scoweb.sco.ca.gov - this is the website of the Controller of the State of California.

If you are not a resident or previous resident of California, then you can try going to the controller or comptroller of your state for information on claiming lost money or unclaimed property. Most states will have information on claiming lost money and property on their individual websites.

For Californians, you can search for unclaimed money and property three ways: individual name, business name (or previous business name), or through a property search.

While on the controller's website, check which method you would like to use for your free unclaimed money search. By default, you will be able to search by an individual's name.

For an individual name, type in the first and last name of the person. If no results are found, try again by just searching by the person's last name. Feel free to search for unclaimed money for your friends and family, they will be so happy if you're able to find some extra dough for them.

If you do find a result under an individual's name - click details to find out more information. This will likely give you the contact information that you need to claim your lost money.

Now continue to search under business names and property to see if there are additional unclaimed funds under other entities.

If you have lived in other states for any period of time, if may be worth it to take a few minutes to search on their state websites and look for any other lost money or unclaimed properties that you may have forgotten about.

hey I heard of this guy who is trying to go to university in the states but is from canada. he cant afford it by himself and hes trying to get scholarships etc. he has a website asking for donations to help him get n education....

thats his website. He only asks that you donate a small amoutn and that every little bit will help him reach his goal of going to a good university in the States.

If you can't donate, I suggest you should at least tell other people about it, he sound like a pretty legit guy. I donated! and if you think hes a scam you can meet him on msn or skype! it was cool, I donated to him just cause i thought he deserved it!
