A fruit garden is a really healthy way of putting fruit and vegetables on the family table and into meals, but taking care of your plants takes some time and consideration. Birds are one of the most vicious pests that can destroy your yield, but installing a fruit netting can solve the problem once and for all.

Birds not only eat all the fruit but their excrement transmits dozens of different diseases and thus keeping them off your yard is just as important as it is for companies and the government. While they are using industrial strength solutions that are not likely to be damaged by weather or any kind of birds, your garden needs can be satisfied just as easily. If you know where to look then you will be able to pick the right system and keep some dollars in your pocket.

There are several different netting solutions, different colors and mesh sizes. White, gray and black are commonly used with black being probably the most often chosen. It does not deteriorate under UV radiation, keeps color against dirt and dust and is virtually invisible when installed just right. Mesh size ranges from 1/4" to 2". If you are looking to keep berries safe, 1/4" is probably the way to go against sparrows and other small bodied birds, pest pigeons are best kept away with 1 1/2" to 2" nets.

Knitted polyethylene is one of the strongest netting solutions that heavy duty usage calls for, but your garden will most probably won't need this material to be used. It is heat and fire resistant, stands UV radiation and stays intact after even a 40 lbs burst.

For light weight, easy installment and cheap price polypropylene is a semi-permanent netting of choice for many farmers and gardeners. It is good for about a year and will return your investment multiple times by keeping your fruits safe from those birds.

If the mesh has to be put to a higher altitude, professional help is available. There are multiple web sites on the net that offer this kind of service. Without risking injury, call the experts who are used to these installment jobs.

Browsing for the best fruit netting online is advised, it is a good way to be able to set up your fruit tunnel or cage at a lower price and by looking at different offers you will be able to pick the best solution your garden needs.
