Fun Ideas with Pillows for a Teen Girls Room
Teenage a girl likes to redecorate her room, and one the easiest and least expensive ways to redecorate is with colorful fun pillows. You can buy pillows at a discount store, but they're easy enough to make and you can turn the pillow making into a fun project for your teen and her friends. Gather up rolls of fabric, fabric remnants, yard, fabric and puff pens and other trims like piping, rick-rack and buttons.
Pillows for the Floor
Teenage girls won't share your taste for wine wall decor or a Tuscan wall sconce candle holder, but girls love floor pillows; whether they're talking on the phone or hanging out with friends, sitting cross-legged on the floor is a casual way to hang out. So why not make a stack of floor pillows so there will always be plenty to keep her and friends comfy? Floor pillows should be made from heavy-duty fabric and be extra large and cushiony. If you decide to make the pillows yourself, fill them with a pillow form or stuff the pillow with fiberfill. Attach two pieces of fabric with pins with the finish sides of the fabric facing each other; sew three sides together, remove pins and turn the pillow inside out, then add your filling. Simplify the sewing process by using Velcro, instead of a zipper, to close the fourth side.
Toss Pillows for the Bed
Teen girls also love a mountain of throw pillows on the bed: They're great for relaxing, reading or having a great big pillow fight with siblings and friends. Use the same method outlined above to make square or rectangular pillows. Add some variety by adding pillows in round shapes, tubes and rolls. Use fabrics in bright colors and interesting patterns and embellish them with fabric pens, fringe, buttons, yarn, piping or whatever your teen desires. A fabric punch and ribbon, laces or yarn can be used to lace up one or more sides as a variation on stitched pillows. Lots of pillows in different sizes – from neck rolls to an oversize body pillow - will keep your teen comfortable for reading or relaxing.
Throw a Pillow Party
A pillow party is a fun twist on a traditional sleepover and all your teen's girlfriends can help make pillows. Bring out the sewing machine, fabric remnants and stuffing and turn the girl's loose cutting, sewing, stuffing and decorating the pillows. A fun idea is to make a big 'me pillow' or 'boyfriend pillow' by tracing your teen's body outline on a sheet or large piece of fabric. Cut out two forms to stitch into a large pillow that she can decorate with yarn, paint pens, felt, fabric scraps and fabric paint as a fun replica of herself or her boyfriend. Let each girl take home a pillow as a party favor and you'll still have plenty of pillows for your teenage girl's room.

Put a smile on the face of the teen girl in your world with the right room decorations. Just because she is growing up does not mean she no longer likes things that are cute and playful. Design her room to reflect this concept.
Monochromatic
Black and white can be cute for a teen girl's bedroom. Paint alternating walls white and black or divide each wall into halves, quarters or even eighths to paint in alternating colors.
