For those women and men lucky enough to
have a wedding on the beach, it's an exhilarating experience. The
beauty of the ocean and its sounds, the fresh smell of salt water and
sunshine is incomparable. White is the perfect color for the ocean,
but so is yellow, pink and even red. The most fantastic things about
having a beach wedding is that you can go formal or casual. Also, you
can spend very little on decorations or you can go all out. With the
back drop of the ocean and blue skies, there is little that needs to
be improved upon. One easy part of planning a wedding is choosing the
invitations. Beach wedding invitations are particularly lovely in
designs made by artists or printing companies.
There are three basic types of
invitation: the formal, casual and handmade invitation. A formal
invitation follows a protocol in design, style and wording. Casual
invitations can follow the formal style, but will have less formal
wording, and may or may not include things like photocopied
directions and handwritten notes. A handmade invitation can be put
together by the couple or designed by an artist. Handmade styles can
be formal or casual.
Formal invitations include wording in a
particular order and style. All words on the invitation are spelled
out, ie it would be inappropriate to write 2010 instead of two
thousand and ten. No abbreviations are used on a formal invitation,
even for a beach wedding. Since a beach ceremony would not be inside
a church, synagogue or mosque, one would use the term “request the
pleasure of your company” and avoid using terms like “honor”.
There are more protocols for formal invitations, however it is best
to find all the information online as there is even protocol on how
to assemble the invitations in the envelope.
A casual invitation needs no formal
wording, but you can use it nonetheless. For informal weddings, it is
best to use informal wording so the guests know what to expect in
terms of dress. Casual ceremonies can even have fun and lighthearted
invitation wording and styles. A picture of the bride and groom on
the beach playing in the sand wouldn't be inappropriate. Likewise, a
more formal picture such as holding hands watching the sunset would
not be inappropriate.
Every bride and groom has to decide
what type of wedding they wish. If they want a red wedding theme on
the beach, it's their choice. A casual wedding or formal attire, the
bride and groom decide. Even the choice of beach wedding invitations
can be casual, formal, semi-formal or even very informal.
