Futons Add Options In Your Home

By Edited Nov 19, 2013 0 0

Why choose a futon rather than a traditional style couch? Probably for its versatility. A futon can serve as both a couch and a bed. Of course, some traditional couches can also be transformed to a bed, but you can't personalize the mattress to the frame or change or wash the cover as easily.

Classy Futon Sofa
A standard futon bed has three basic parts-a frame, a mattress, and a mattress cover. The frame can be put in two positions, making a couch or a bed. Each part is usually sold separately, making it possible to select the comfort and quality mattress you desire or can afford with the style of frame that fits your taste and décor. You can save money by buying a package that includes all three for one price. You forgo the choices of selecting the combo that most fits your needs, but if price is an issue, that could be a good way to go.

You can get a metal frame or a wood frame. There are several hundred designs to choose from. A metal frame should have good steel construction and quality welding. Prices can range from $200 to $400. The Cottage Grove futon frame combines wood and steel. The seat and back are steel for durability and the arms and cross rails are wood in a golden oak or a painted white finish. Wood frames are made of many types of wood in many décor styles. The Grand Teton is made of solid lodge pole pine and is a rustic, solid wood frame. It reclines in several positions and has a 10-year warranty.

Futon covers come in solid colors, floral patterns, southwestern patterns, plus almost any pattern you would like. There are many fabric choices, of which many are washable. It is fun to have two sets so you can change the look of your room.
