Garden Lights
There are few things that surpass the kind of enjoyment your garden can give you after you have put hours and hours of work into it. It's incredibly simple to bring that enjoyment on into the night by implementing a few simple tips for implementing garden lights in your garden.
Solar garden lights are available in a huge variety of sizes and shapes to suit your garden and tastes. You can use beautiful, authentic looking, victorian post lamps, or make a more modern choice by using smaller globes that change colors. One of the newer technological advancements in lighting is LEDs, or 'light emitting diodes'. These can be solar powered, and require much less energy, which means that the panels that power them are also smaller, and the burnout rate is next to nothing. The cost of these LEDs is usually fairly inexpensive, so they're easy to change as your tastes change, also.
Low voltage lighting might seem to be an obvious choice, but a surprising number of people aren't aware that the lights that are around my pool aren't going to give tham an electric shock. I invested a fair amount of time trying to find an efficient adapter for low voltage lights. This kind of adapter will take your regular current from your household and moderate it so that it will be more appropriate for your garden environment. I eventually chose a unit that included a couple of 300W legs. Because of these, I can include ten 30W bulbs with each circuit, or 'leg'. This system also included a sensor which can turn the lights on as it becomes dark outside, and a sensor to turn the lights on if they sense motion - both good measures to save on my power bill.
The placement of garden lights in your outdoor area can also be important and exciting. Of course, you want to light up pathways and doorways, but garden design can also provide an adventure for you and your guests. Your lighting can invite guests into the garden to investigate the wonders that you've created there in the landscape. You should make your guests feel like they're taking an adventure into a bizarre, unfamiliar world or a whole other continent. Your imagination is key!
Be sure to pay attention to a few very important safety tips, however. All kinds of electrical devices, from low voltage lighting transformers, fountains, and even wireless speakers need to be installed with a GFCI breaker. A GFCI, or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt, should be placed at your electrical outlet or panel which any device receives power from. Because this device is so important for safety, it is advisable to have a professional electrician install it.
