Full Review

The Gateway LT2030u Computer is a stylish netbook with some nice featured packaged inside a small footprint. The LED display and 250 GB hard drive put this netbook within the upper class. The built in RAM is only 1 GB, but Windows 7 starter handles these meager resources with no problems.

Those purchasing a netbook are probably looking for a few simple things, a lightweight computer with a long battery life and the ability to access a wireless network. The Gateway LT2030 has all these features including a much desired 8 hour battery life. The built in Gateway power management is excellent right out of the box. The computer saves battery life when idle through first a display adjustment, then hibernation. This netbook is amazing fast at waking from hibernation so users can get right back to work. The power management is much better than a comparable HP computer.

Netbook Runs Cool

The Gateway LT2030u runs very cool. Compared to similar HP and Compaq computers, this Gateway does not have as high of a surface temperature on the bottom of the computer after running for over an hour. This helps not only for comfort of the user, but it should help increase the life of the netbook.

xD Card Capability

If you are an Olympus or Fuji digital camera owner, then a Gateway netbook is one of the only available netbook computers left with an xD card reader. Most netbook computers have moved away from the xD cards to save some money.

In Closing

Overally, the LT2030u is a very solid netbook computer from Gateway. If you like a little flair and need the longer battery life and xD card reading capabilities this netbook is worth a look. With a retail price of $349, it is a bargain compared to laptop computers if you need a computer for internet use and photographs. With the improved power management and extended battery life, this Gateway has some advantages over similar HP and Compaq computers.
