Geishas are traditional female Japanese entertainers who do various performing arts. In the Japanese language, "gei" means "arts or performances," while "sha" means "people." It is believed that the predecessors of geisha were the women who danced for the ancient Japanese warriors. Geisha are trained in a number of skills, including traditional Japanese dancing, singing, and instrument playing. They are also known for their skills in flower arrangement, calligraphy, alcohol serving manners, and more.

Geisha must learn the traditional skills of dance and song to perform for public and private groups. They hold one of the highest social status in Japan. In days past, geisha training usually started when a girl was around the age of four. Now, Japanese girls usually go to school until they are teenagers and then make the personal decision to train to become a geisha.

Geisha Girl Adult Costume

Geisha Adult Costume

Available only in one size that fits women up to size 12-14, you will need to buy the shoes separately in order to walk the proud walk of a geisha.

Dragon Geisha Young Adult Costume

This is the perfect geisha girl costume for the tween as well as adults in that it is a bi-level kimono style dress. Essentially, this means that the dress is shorter in the front and longer in the back, allowing the wearer to move freely without worrying about accidentally flashing the world. It is blue with black trim and sports a fantastic dragon imprint. It also includes a decorative fan (be careful with the fan as it is easily ripper) and chopsticks to place in your hair. Although this geisha girl outfit is available in young adult and teen sizes (misses 7-9), it made on the small size so make sure to take that into consideration when ordering. As with most Halloween costumes, the shoes pictured are not included. However, if you are going to buy a new pair of shoes to go with this geisha girl costume, try getting a very comfortable pair, especially if you plan of making the circuit in an effort to be seen in this amazing female costume.
