GENERAL MANAGER

The role of a general manager consists of coordinating and directing the operations of a small business or department in a larger organization. Some operations managers run their own branch of a corporation in a certain district or city. The manager will usually be in charge of certain departments such as: production, sales, promotion, and purchasing. Their direct superior is usually the vice president or CEO of the company.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION

In most cases, to become a general manager you'll need at least a bachelor's degree. Other times, the only requirement is years of successful experience inside the company you are promoted. Many companies possess executive training programs which will allow anybody with the desire and drive and to become upper management.

The average general/operations manager salary for the U.S. is currently $110,550 per year. The average hourly wage is $53.15 per hour.
