When you buy generic heartworm medicine you can rest assured that you are still completely protecting your pet from adult heartworms forming. The difference with Valuheart, the leading generic is that it does not have flavored heartworm pills. This is not of much concern though as the heartworm pills are usually given in a tasty treat anyway to encourage our pets to eat them.

If you want heartworm medicine but are a little low on funds, or simply don't like the price of the branded medications then generics are definitely the way to go. I would recommend either Valuheart or a generic form of Heartgard plus as my top choices. At about $20 for a six month supply you really can't find a cheaper generic heartworm pill.
