Generic Heartworm Treatment

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Heartworm treatments can be fairly expensive so it is often the case that we look around for a cheaper solution. Generic heartworm medication is one such alternative. Probably the best known is called Valuheart which is produced in Australia. It contains Ivermectin as the active ingredient.

Quite surprisingly there is no one active ingredient in all treatments against this problem. Different brands contain different active ingredients. They all produce the same effect though. That of killing any larval worms that have been introduced in to a Dog up to a month previously.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a non brand name as long as the product works. You can even simply buy the active ingredients although you must be absolutely sure of what you are doing. It is not recommended to just buy the active ingredient unless you are totally sure of the dose. Generic heartworm medicine used to be available without prescription but it is becoming more difficult to obtain. However, luckily more online pet medicine sites are qualified to issue prescriptions with your order so it is a very simple process.

Wherever you buy from ensure that you get the right dosage for your pet. It is important that the correct amount of the active ingredient is administered monthly either via a tablet or a liquid solution that is applied externally. Generic heartworm is as safe as regular treatments. It is the active ingredient that is the main factor. You may simply find that by paying less you don not have the option of the tablets coming in a flavor. This is not really a problem though as crushed in a tasty bit of food our pets will never know the difference.
