George Foreman Grills
Fairly recently, I got myself one of those George Foreman grills - and I absolutely love it. In fact, I really wonder how I got along before I got it!
These grills are really easy to use, even for someone like me, who isn't exactly Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen.
As well as being easy to use, they are also healthy. You don't need to use oil or butter to prepare your food. The lower grill plate is angled slightly downwards. That means that any juices, including any fat, which come out of the food whilst it's being cooked runs off and is collected in a special tray which sits at the front of the grill.
One of the really attractive features, in my opinion at least, is the fact that since the food being cooked is sandwiched between an upper and a lower grill plate, it cooks on both sides at the same time. There's no need to turn the food - and the cooking time is cut in half.
There are a variety of different George Foreman grills to choose from. However many people you're cooking for, there will be one that's suitable for you. I manage to get all the necessary items to feed myself and my two sons breakfast each morning into the grill in one go. It makes preparing breakfast easy and fast!
And when you're done, cleaning up is a lot easier than washing a whole bunch of pots and pans. The fact that you can prepare the whole meal on the grill is a big bonus in itself. The grill plates are triple coated non-stick and really easy to clean.
I tend to just let the grill cool down slightly and then wipe the surface of the grill plates with a damp sponge. That usually does the trick.
Some of the grills in the range have removable plates which can be taken off for cleaning. These are dishwasher safe, so you can put them in your machine for washing if you like. However, more often than not, a wipe with a damp sponge will be all that's required.
These grills are amazingly versatile. The ones which have removable plates can have special plates fitted if you like. In addition to the normal steak, burgers and bacon, you can cook things like omelets, cupcakes and brownies if you like.
Personally, I don't bother too much with that. I'm just happy to get breakfast done each morning with the minimum of fuss (and effort).
