Get Cheaper Auto Insurance In 3 Easy Steps

By Edited May 1, 2015 0 0

Are you tired of paying too much for auto insurance month after month? This is something that most people experience and the truth is that you don’t have to pay that much for auto insurance, there are ways to save. What most people don’t realize is that you don’t have to spend more to save more, you can easily save money if you just know how.

Before I get to the 3 simple steps to get cheaper auto insurance I just want you to understand that these work no matter what kind of insurance you have. I know that a lot of insurance companies don’t like to give discounts but the nice thing about these tricks is that they are not real discounts, they are ways around the expensive policy.

3 Simple Ways To Get Cheap Auto Insurance

Increase Deductible – One of the easiest things that you can do is simply increasing your deductible. The best part about this is that you will lower your insurance premium. Now there is a small risk to doing this, if you get in a lot of accidents then this would not be for you.

What I would recommend is that you take your deductible now and double it. What this will do is most likely give you a discount of around 10% off the yearly insurance policy. Increasing the deductible is a great way to save money but make sure that you know what the risks of doing it are.

Lower Insurance Amount – Another great way to get cheaper auto insurance is to lower your insurance amount. I know this might sound a bit strange but it works better than you think. For example, let’s say you have a $10,000 car with comprehensive auto insurance on it and you only owe $4,000 on it. If that is the case and you are looking to save on the insurance premiums then all you have to do is lower your insurance amount to something above $4,000. My advice would be to insure the car for $5,000 because the odds of a car becoming totaled are not that high.

What most people don’t realize is that every insurance policy has a limit that the insurance company will pay and the lower that limit is the lower your policy price is. Trust me, changing this is not going to affect you that much because most minor accidents will not be over $5,000 in damage.

Pay Less Frequently – This is one thing that I didn’t really understand when I first heard about it. Why would you pay less often to get a better price? The thing that you need to understand is that if you pay for your policy monthly then you are being charged extra for paperwork, handling, and sometimes just interest on the left over balance.

The easiest thing to do is pay for 3 or 4 months at a time. If you can do this then you will save a lot of money over the course of the year. Most people don’t have a year’s worth of premiums saved up and that is fine, you can take a smaller step by doing 6 months, 4 months, and even 3 months of payments at a time. I know this might be more than you want to buy now but you can save a quick 10-15% just by doing this.

When it comes to auto insurance one of the things that everybody hates is the price of it and that is where these tricks will come in handy. Just do yourself a huge favor and use then as soon as possible before you make another high insurance payment.
