Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Becoming happy seems like the biggest challenge that we face today. There’s nothing to smile about anymore, we face so many problems everyday that we lose reasons to lighten up.tgt

The economy, the money problems, relationships, bullying, overweight, diet and the list goes on. The negatives overpower the positives and it seems to take over our moods.

The worst thing you can do take another sip of that bottle of vodka or pop another pill. There are better alternatives that are healthy and proven to be effective.

You can start with your own self-image to your diet. Your mind and body determines how you perceive your daily life. 

A temporary fix like medicine or drugs might seem to uplift your mood but they almost always come with side effects. The healthy alternatives are much more effective in the short-term and long-term.

Go for the healthy fix that is natural and won’t cause any harm to your body. For example eating omega 3 based foods will lower the risk for depression and promotes a mood of happiness and positivity.


A lot of foods contain healthy nutrients like omega 3 but when we want to be in a better mood, we are more than likely to reach for a glass of alcohol. Why? IT could be out of old habits or it’s just convenient and easy to reach.

Old habits can easily be broken just as it is to get happier. Let a little light in your house because depression could develop from dark houses.

Fix your diet so you’re not eating foods that are made from synthetic flavors and artificial ingredients. Ask yourself why would you be sad? Could it be from the people you hang around with? Negative spreads faster than germs!

Smile, Laugh, But Don't Cry:

If you don’t smile you won’t really be happy. Let it spread across your face and do it like you mean it. Stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and smile. Don’t let go of the smile for at least 30-60 seconds. Some studies show that this can instantly make one happy even if depression exists in the person.

Practice this a few times a day, maybe after using the bathroom you can do this. Don’t forget to lock the bathroom door!


When you exercise, endorphins are released from your brain. That’s why you may see people in a better mood after they exercise. It’s also a great stress reliever. You won’t even know what you were stressed about after the workout! What better way could get you happy while improving the quality of your life than to exercise?

Let the light shine in your house. Studies show that depression elevates when you are in the dark for a long period. When you are in the light, you are also getting your vitamin D which increases your testosterone levels. Men with low testosterone levels will feel tired and depressed.


No not another chocolate bar! When you eat high sugar foods, you will get a great energy rush but followed by an even greater crash. Follow a diet of full of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Go for eggs, fish, and nuts: these have protein and fats. For carbohydrates, eat only complex like oatmeal, brown rice and brown bread.


When you’re not in the mood you’re not going to want to talk about your whole life. When you’re at the grocery store though, strike a conversation up with the cashier or the people around you. Talk about the weather or something going on in the grocery store. You’ll find that sometimes it might lead to a funny joke or something positive that wil make you smile and best of all, you might even make someone elses day!

Appreciate, Don't Hate:

Don’t take the things you have for granted. Think about what you have, not what you don’t have. When you start listing the things you have, you’ll find yourself feeling better than thinking about the things you don’t have.

This is a great exercise to do when you first wake up in th morning. List 10 things you could appreciate and repeat as many time as possible. Watch your self become in a better mood!



These are simple ways to get happy and the ways to do them don't need any supplements or drugs. You just need yourself, your mind and your smile. The last thing you should do is pay for a therapy session when you could do this right at home. Try it!
