Get Rid of Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes can occur for a number of reasons. Puffy eyes can occur due to lack of sleep, crying, or simply age since older people tend to have puffiness in the eye area. If you treat your puffy eyes at home, you can bring improve the condition quite a bit and improve your overall appearance.

Unless you were simply born with puffy eyes, you do not have to go to school, the office, or anywhere else with them. There are things you can do to help you with eye firming so you can reduce the puffiness around your eyes. In serious cases, the only answer is surgery and in other cases, puffiness might even be a symptom signaling that you are suffering from a disease. Normally, however, you can work on your puffiness problem in the comfort of your own home.

Eye puffiness problems are generally a direct result of your activities during the day prior to when they appear. If you had your head bent for a long period of time, ate a lot of salty food, or didn't get much sleep, your eyes might get puffy. Here are a few ways you can reduce those unseemly bags through home remedies.


The puffiness beneath your eyes is often caused by fluids that are trapped in the eye area. If you massage all around your eyelids, you can move the fluids away from your eyes. You can also bathe them in cold water to help the blood vessels retract and lessen the effects of the puffiness.


You can also buy eye cream for puffy eyes if puffiness is a problem you have on a regular basis. These creams will help the circulation in your face and can really reduce the amount of puffiness you see on a regular basis. The creams can also help to flush fluids from your system.

Tea Bags

Place tea bags over your eyes after running them under cold water. Lay down for five minutes or longer and you might also be able to hold off the puffiness and brighten your eyes. The cold temperature in the tea bags will help the circulation around your eyes and the tea itself has tannin in it, which can help tighten the skin around your eyes.

There are also a number of lifestyle changes you can make in order to ward off puffiness before it ever occurs. First, limit the amount of sodium you eat so that you do not retain fluids in your eye area or anywhere else. Second, drink a lot of water so you can flush sodium and other ingredients that aid puffiness out of your body. Third, place cucumber slices over your eyes on a regular basis to help your eyes remain their normal size. Fourth, avoid having your head bent over for long periods of time and try not to stay up too late at night. Fifth, use soothing eye creams when you feel that you may have done one of the above things so you can avoid puffiness the next day.
