Roller skating is a fun way to lose weight. An averaged sized person burns around 350 calories and hour roller skating. Roller skating has the same health benefits as running does but it is low impact so it will not hurt your joints the way running does.
If you skate a few sessions each week you can rapidly begin to lose weight as long as you are not eating the high fat snacks from the snack bar at your local skating rink. Even if you have never skated before you can easily start roller skating to lose weight. Most roller skating rinks offer free lessons. Each time you go you will build up your skills and confidence to a higher level. If you attend 3-4 skate sessions per week then within a month you can be flying around the skating rink burning huge numbers of calories as you cross leg in the turns.
If you are 10 pounds overweight or 200 hundred pounds overweight roller skating is a great way to lose weight. If your are massively overweight then running will kill your knees but roller skating will be a lot easier on your knees. Once you get competent in the skills of skating you will have a blast. Roller Skating is a fun addiction to have because it is a lot healthier to go skating 3-4 times a week then it is too go the bar 3-4 times a week and drink heavily. It is also cheaper to go roller skating.
Lets run some numbers here. Assuming each skate session is 4 hours long and you skate about 3 hours each session then you will burn around 1,050 calories every time you go skating. If you eat healthy and drink water instead of pope you can rapidly lose weight. If you burn a thousand calories every time you go skating and you skate 4 times a week that is 4,000 calories you will burn each and every week and you are doing something that is very fun and low impact on your joints.
The more you roller skate the more fun the sport will become. The more fun you have the more often you will roller skate. The more you roller skate the more weight you will loose. It's a win win situation.
If you are a novice roller skater then
contact your local skating rink and ask about lessons. Once you have
some lessons and start skating each week you will eventually want to
order your own pair of roller skates. Roller skating will help you
lose massive amounts of weight over a years period if you continue to
roller skate 3-4 times a week. Just make sure that you are eating
healthy and not pigging out on nachos and Mountain Dew at the snack
bar. Image Credit: (Flickr/Hendricks Photos)
